There are many new clubs at QHS and the Gay-Straight Alliance (GSA) club is just one of many.
“[The club was created] to bring people together with common interests and common ideas so that people could feel like they are surrounded by people who are just like them. [We hope the club makes] them feel more comfortable in the school,” Amy Alston, club creator, said.
While GSA is a small group, they hope to have a great effect on the school and how welcome everyone is on campus.
“We’re hopeful that it will be a support group not just for students who are gay or lesbian or bisexual or transgender or questioning or anything in that acronym. We talked about being a support group for any students who feel like outsiders because of sexual orientation, or race, and really just anything,” Jenni Moran, club sponsor, said.
The GSA is always looking for new members to come and be a part of the experience. They meet Thursday after school in Moran’s room (E133) from 2:30-3:30.
