The after school yoga class started last March.
This fitness class has been very beneficial for those participating. It teaches students how to stay balanced, be more flexible, focus more on the task at hand, tone their bodies, and relax.
“A steady amount of 10-15 students come. Even the track team’s students started to attend,” Gloria Kirby, P.E. teacher, said.
If you’re interested in building more muscle, relaxing a bit from a long day, or just trying to become more flexible, then yoga is the place for you. There is no sign up required.
The class meets in the exercise room on Mondays from 2:30 – 3:15. If you are worried about transportation, the 9th hour buses can take you home.
There are a variety of activities performed but Sun-Salutation is performed more than the others. The activities and stretches are varied among upper and lower body strength.
“I mix the stretches up a bit, but I try and stick to the main ones,” Kirby said.
Student interest prompted Kirby to start this class.
