As the new football season arrived for our Quincy Blue Devils, their goal was to prepare for both their next home and away games.

Nate Wilson, sophomore linebacker said, ” [To prepare] I try to play my hardest with the team as we work together and for myself. I make sure I pay attention to each play and drill we learn.”

Coaching for 16 years, Coach Rick Little also prepares for this season by hoping for the best.

Coach Little’s advice to players is to ” just take a steady and constant approach and work hard everyday.”

As the coaches and players get ready for the upcoming games, the teams are competitive.

“I’m looking forward to winning the conference game and being able to show out against Rock Island. Also our homecoming game against Galesburg  is going to be a good game. [I am] also [looking forward to playing] against Moline since we lost against them sophomore year,” said quarterback and safety Logan Ross, senior.

As the rest of the practice, one practices differently.  Avery Wilson, senior, is known for his role as the Blue Devil kicker.

“The football team itself is pretty tight. The coaching staff is great, especially Coach Little. Little went to Nationals with me down in San Diego. That was amazing. One of the most important things in this team is the friendships and bonding,” said Wilson.

While the season may end with the last game against QND, each player and coach hopes to head to the playoffs.

“For myself, I’m hoping to accomplish, you know, winning the Western Big Six. Last year was really great and [I’m] wanting to do the same this year. Making the playoffs again this year will be really great [too], ” said running back Jirehl Brock, junior.
