Heaven Derhake, a 17-year-old senior, is involved in an organization called International Order of the Rainbow for girls.

She said she loves how it is like a second family with all of the support. “It helps girls grow more confident and get involved with their communities. It also helps a lot with public speaking,” said Derhake.

Her friend Jasmine Failor got her involved in the organization.

“She talked to me about it at lunch most of 8th grade and brought in an application for me to fill out,” said Derhake.

Some people may not know that the organization raises money for different areas. As Derhake said, ” In ┬ápast years we’ve raised money for the Shriner’s Hospital, The Linus Project, and Life Source up in Chicago. This year we’re raising money for the Quad Cities Honor Flight.”

Also, they volunteer to do bell ringing with the Salvation Army.

Her family and friends are her biggest supporters throughout everything she encounters.

” I would like to attend SIUE for wanting to be a Forensic Psychologist,” said Derhake.
