There is a new addition to QHS. In D building, on the first floor, a water bottle fountain has been added. Teachers and Student Council members say they think the fountain supported a need.

“We saw a need [at QHS] and went forth to buy a water bottle fountain,” said student council faculty sponsor Kate Schumacher. “[The fountain] will help reduce waste and it gives students quick access to fill up their water bottle.”

Cassy Steffen, one of the co-president of Student Council, agreed that the water bottle fountain has been a success.

“With every use of the water fountain, water bottle waste is eliminated from the earth. We average around eliminating 40 water bottles a day,” Steffen said.

Brian McIntyre, another co-president of Student Council, said that they bought the fountain through fundraising.

“To raise the money, we sold candy canes for students to by themselves or someone else and delivered them later.”

Student council plans on buying more water bottle fountains in the future.

“We do plan to buy more water bottle fountains through fundraising,” Schumacher said.
