Austin Durst, senior, said that his parents and other family members are his biggest form of support.

” My parent support any decision I make,” he said. “My cousins and other family got me involved in hunting. They are the most important thing to me.”

After high school, Durst plans on getting a job and going to college.

“After high school, I plan on majoring in Fire Science or possibly Law Enforcement at John Wood Community College in the fall,” Durst said. “An ideal job [after high school] would be one that I enjoy going to. I want to make good money to [pay for] my expensive hobbies.”

Durst said that hunting has taught him many valuable skills.

“hunting has taught me patience and self-discipline by getting up early in the morning, but it’s not hard to get up when you enjoy what you’re doing. My favorite animals to hunt are deer and buck,” he said.

Durst said one of his favorite hobbies is riding ATVs with family.

“I go riding at Ruffcorn ATV Park or on my family’s land. I love to ride because I’ve been riding since I was little, and my friends also ride with me,” he said.
